ENVIRONMENT

Lot 490 offers a unique blend of beach, creek and bush environments. The proposed Kingscliff Resort development will rehabilitate and revegetate land stripped from sandmining of years past, transform it into a vibrant, resort and community centred space and nurture an ecologically revived haven for native flora and fauna.

Approximately one quarter of the 43.4 hectare site will be developed for the proposed resort. The balance of the Lot 490 Plan of Management land will be dedicated to public open space and recreation, community facilities and associated infrastructure and environmental rehabilitation.

The low impact footprint of the development means that much of the existing native flora and fauna system will be retained and in many cases, improved. Landscape design will use a broad range of species that reflect locally occurring native vegetation and an emphasis will be placed on species which provide food for native fauna. Landscape corridors between the bungalows have been designed to enhance the feeling of open space while at the same time, maintaining a connection with nature and serving as thoroughfares through the site.

Leighton Properties is committed to innovative, ecologically sustainable development. All elements of the built environment including buildings, lighting and signage are intended to fit in with the coastal character of the area and blend with the natural setting.
